As one of Turkey's leading state research universities, İstanbul Medeniyet University was founded on five pillars; 'Innovative,' 'Entrepreneurial, 'Society- and Civilization-Oriented,' 'International' 'Research-Oriented' in 2010. Since then, establishing our presence in the international arena has been one of the essential pivotal axes of IMU's institutional development. Our international performance development team, which was established for this purpose, is one of the most important steps taken in the way of establishing an international presence. International recognition requires achieving international academic goals, raising awareness of the society on sustainability, and planning and implementing activities within the scope of sustainability so that our students and academics take part in achieving these goals. All these are necessary to achieve the sustainability goals of the UN.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a 17-purpose, universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability. As the international performance development team, our goal is to move our university to the best place in the international arena in each of the 17 sustainability goals while consolidating its place among the most prestigious universities in the World.
With the aim of becoming one of the leading universities in Turkey and the World, we need to develop an approach that is human and society-oriented, flexible, thinking innovatively and quickly to adapt to international standards. In recognition that our globalization, sustainability, and SDG commitments are more crucial than ever, we strive to achieve the goals with an unprecedented approach.
