Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) is the most reputable ranking of the world universities. It is based on 18 calibrated performance indicators that measure institutions' performance based on research environment, teaching, research quality, international outlook, and knowledge transfer. THE 2024 world university rankings announcement included 2857 universities across 127 countries, making it the most diverse university ranking.
In October 2025, THE World University Ranking 2026 was published. In the 'World University Rankings 2026' announcement, Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) was ranked for the fifth time.
As one of the youngest public universities in Turkey, Istanbul Medeniyet University was ranked;
- in THE World University Rankings 2025 in the 1201-1500 band regarding the overall listing among world universities.
- 23rd at the national level among 137 Universities.
In 2021, IMU was ranked for the first time in the Young Universities Ranking, which includes the world’s best universities that are aged 50 years or under. This year, IMU was ranked in the 401-500 band globally, while it is ranked as the 9th among the public universities and the 18th among the 80 universities that are included in the list from Turkey.
